Palo Alto Networks to Establish a New Cyber Security Consultancy Group

by CISOCONNECT Bureau

Under the enlarged Unit 42 banner, Palo Alto Networks is forming a new cyber security consulting group.

Wendi Whitmore leads the new group, which integrates former Crypsis security consultants with its Unit 42 research team.

In August of last year, Palo Alto paid $265 million for incident response, risk management, and digital forensics consulting firm The Crypsis Group.

The Unit 42 consultancy will provide a suite of services to assist organisations in quickly responding to cyber threats, as well as proactive services to supplement the Palo Alto product range, addressing diverse cyber threats ranging from ransomware to state-sponsored espionage. In addition, the consulting group will extend its incident response services to Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Commenting on the development, Wendi Whitmore, Senior Vice President of Cyber Consulting and Threat Intelligence at Palo Alto Networks, said “Our increasing reliance on technology has turned cybersecurity into an existential matter,”

He added “We wake up every day focused on collecting and analysing the most up-to-date threat intelligence and applying our analysis to respond to cyberattacks.”
