Nutanix, VMware, Dell EMC, Cisco and HPE have been named as ‘leaders’ in Gartner’s recent Magic Quadrant for Hyperconverged Infrastructure
(HCI) report.
Nutanix and VMware are at the top of a pack of ‘Leaders, according to the report which names Microsoft as the only vendor in the “Visionaries” category.
While Huawei and Pivot3 are “Challengers”, the “Niche Players” section consist of Scale Computing, Huayun Data Group, Red Hat, Sangfor Technologies, StorMagic, DataCore and StarWind.
According to Gartner, driven by increased HCI scalability and management functionality, by 2023, 70% of enterprises will be running some form of HCI (i.e., appliance, software, cloud-tethered), up from less than 30% in 2019.
“Hyperconverged infrastructure solutions are making substantial inroads into a broader set of use cases and deployment options, but limitations exist. I&O leaders should view HCI solutions as tools in the toolbox, rather than as panaceas for all IT infrastructure problems,” says Gartner.
