After several users were unable to access Microsoft 365 services and features, including workplace messaging app Teams and Azure, Microsoft said it has resolved the problem. Microsoft tweeted “We have confirmed that the underlying DNS outage has been mitigated. Currently we’re validating the recovery of the downstream Microsoft 365 services,”
The Domain Name System (DNS) is an internet address book that allows computers to match website addresses with the appropriate server.
Previously, the outage monitoring website Downdetector revealed that over 8,000 people had reported problems with Microsoft’s commonly used Teams workplace messaging app. Only Downdetector collects status reports from a variety of outlets, including user-submitted errors on its website, to monitor outages. It’s likely that the outage is impacting a greater number of people.
