Intel, Dell venturing into cloud and e-comm in India

Intel wants to transform and focus on emerging areas like cloud computing and the ecommerce sector in India. Therefore, keeping in line with this business direction, it is now concentrating on offering Indian enterprises enhanced technologies and products that will allow them to adopt modern cloud based software defined infrastructure (SDI) in a faster and easier way.

The company is offering a high performing x86 platform for SDDC (software defined data centers) solutions, which includes Intel Xeon E5 2600v4 family of processors, Intel Resource Director Technology and other enhanced features. These products claim to help customers to move to fully automated SDI-based modern clouds with greater visibility and control capability.

Dell, along with Intel, will also now offer products and solutions based on Intel Xeon E5 2600v4 processors to enterprises. According to Manish Gupta, head-Dell Enterprise Solutions Group, the emergence of the ecommerce sector and increasing adoption of Big Data and analytics in India has increased the workload demands of the datacenter. To address these, he said, “We at Dell are offering multiple SDI options and support that are integral to the solution. We also believe that our collaboration with Intel will benefit customers seeking an integrated IT approach.”

Their recently targeted customers belong to cloud, telecom and ecommerce sectors. According to Srinivas Tadigadapa, director, enterprise solutions – Intel South Asia, India’s changing dynamics across industries are pressuring enterprises to move even faster for surviving in the market.

“To keep pace, enterprises must transform to an agile infrastructure that allows them to remain viable. The result is pent-up demand for SDI and we are investing heavily to mature SDI solutions in the market and provide a faster upgrade path for our customers of all sizes,” he added.

Intel is offering new technologies and products for faster and reliable data access to the cloud. Additionally, the company is also establishing deep collaborations with hardware and software vendors in India to create an ecosystem that can aid enterprises to efficiently deploy their portfolio of solutions and benefits from its capabilities.

Tadigadapa further added that, “It has become imperative for Indian enterprises to modernize the enterprise cloud infrastructure. It is required that businesses operate with reduced IT costs while supporting the line of business. Technology and ecosystem are coming together to enable Indian enterprises to take immediate steps towards a cloud-ready future.”
