According to a recent report released on Friday, India’s data centres captured more than 51 million cyber attacks over their networks from over 40,000 unique IP addresses between April and December 2021.
The report also discovered a total of 26,166 usernames used by attackers to log into networks, as well as a total of 80282 passwords used by attackers to log into networks.
According to research conducted by the Institute of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE) and the CyberPeace Foundation (CPF) along with Autobot Infosec, attackers attempted to run multiple terminal commands as well as download malicious payloads into the system.
Researchers discovered a total of 1,31,388 unique terminal commands were run in the system, with 1,262 unique payloads injected into the environment. Malicious files such as botnets, trojans, and other malware was included in the payloads.
CyberPeace Foundation Spokesperson said “By deploying the simulated network we can collect data on patterns of attack, the different types of attack vector for the different protocols and the recent trends of malicious activity,”
The objective was to investigate the different types of signatures that can be used as exhibitors of compromise on a simulated Data centre network in order to collecting inforamtion that can prevent future attacks on real networks.
