Flash Networks announced today the release of xtraAir Data Signaling Optimization that enables operators to manage the exponential increase in connected devices as a result of the Internet of Things (IoT) by reducing signaling events by 5-15%. xtraAir automatically improves radio network performance by managing traffic flows at the network core using field proven, proprietary, and patent pending technology.
As the IoT extends communications capabilities to billions of objects, operators run the risk that their radio network won’t be able to provide the necessary connectivity, especially in congested areas. IDC forecasts that the worldwide market for IoT solutions will grow from $1.9 trillion in 2013 to $7.1 trillion in 2020. The number of cars connected to the Internet worldwide alone will grow more than six fold to 152 million in 2020 from 23 million in 2013, according to IHS Automotive.
Using a variety of techniques to streamline signaling traffic xtraAir reduces the volume of signaling events. xtraAir streamlines data signaling traffic for 3G and 4G networks, HTTP 1.1/2.0, HTTPS and other TCP based networks.
“For every PC or handset, there will soon be 5-10 other types of devices sold with mobile Internet connectivity,” said Ofer Gottfried, CTO at Flash Networks. “xtraAir can provide operators with the optimization they need to increase the utilization of their radio network in order to provide a superior user experience.”
