Comparis didn’t comment whether the cyberattack was connected to a ransomware campaign targeting Florida
Online consumer store in Switzerland, Comparis announced on Friday that it has filed a criminal complaint in connection with a ransomware attack on Wednesday that shut down some of its information technology systems.
Commenting on the ransomware attack, it said “As far as we know, most databases do not seem to be affected by the incident. Unfortunately, first detailed analyses suggest that the perpetrators had access to certain customer-relevant data of sister company Credaris, whose systems are partly operated in the same server environment,”
Comparis said its website, which allows customers to compare costs for goods and services, was working normal, but access via e-mail and the customer hotline was limited as the company was working with cybersecurity experts to achieve a full recovery.
Comparis did not say whether the cyberattack was connected to a ransomware campaign focusing on the Florida information technology firm Kaseya, that scrambled data of hundreds of small businesses throughout the world. REvil, a well-known cybercrime group with ties to Russia, claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to a spokesman for Comparis, the company did not pay a ransom to regain functionality.
