Backblaze Appoints Mark Potter as CISO

Mark Potter has been appointed Chief Information Security Officer at Backblaze, as the company continues to improve its leadership team in order to accelerate growth.

This hiring brings the expertise of a seasoned security professional who will continue to help and improve the company’s focus on data security in its storage cloud and for its customers.

Backblaze is a cloud service that allows companies and customers to easily and affordably store and use their data. It serves as a foundation for developers, IT professionals, and individuals to back up and archive data, host content, manage media, create apps, and more.

Mark Potter has specialised in Information Technology, governance, risk management, regulatory enforcement, and data protection/privacy for over 26 years.

Potter previously worked as the CISO for NewWave Telecom & Technologies and Danya International, where he was in charge of the CDC, SAMHSA, Office of Head Start, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services federal systems’ protection and privacy.
