Allied Telesis Launches Desktop Media Converters

Allied Telesis announced the release of the Allied Telesis DMC100 Fast Ethernet and DMC1000 Gigabit USB-powered desktop media converters. Available in SC, ST and LC optics, DMC Series media converters require no extra power cord as they are capable of being powered from the laptop/computer’s USB interface, or optionally by connecting the USB cable to a traditional wall-socket connector.

Purpose-built for fiber-enabling desktops, printers and IP phones, the Allied Telesis DMC Series of mini media converters are among the smallest media converters on the market today. At just 1.25 inches wide × 3.6 inches deep × 0.85 inches high, these media converters can easily fit into the palm of one’s hand.

Key features include Smart Link Restoration,Smart Missing Link (SML), and Power Saving.Smart Link Restoration allows the devices, in cases of power failure, link loss or other interrupted service, to automatically restore the link without the need to restart/reset them.

The Smart MissingLink(SML) feature monitors network connections and provides notification when network segments fail, allowing network managers to quickly identify the source and location of failed segments and minimize downtime.

The Allied Telesis DMC Series continues the Company’s commitment to the environment with a more than 50% power savings over previous models. With just 1.5W of power usage, DMC Series media converters are some of the most efficient products available today.
