Oil India clarified the recent cyberattack on its IT systems, saying that while a malware threat was detected and reported by officials, it had no impact on the company’s operations.
IANS reported on April 13 that the state-owned company had been targeted by a cyberattack in its field headquarters in eastern Assam’s Duliajan, with the hacker seeking $75,00,000.
The company took preventive precautions after receiving the cyber threat report, it said in a regulatory filing to the exchanges.
The filing said “Network management service providers and the Anti-Virus Team were also immediately informed about the incident. The incident was also reported to CERT-In,”
Furthermore, the firm stated that it made no attempt to make any contacts with the cybercriminals.
The company added “We would like to state that there has been no bearing on the operations/performance of the company due to the said malware threat which warrants public announcement. Presently, uninterrupted operations are going-on and business continuity is maintained,”
