The Cyber Digital Twins platform is one of the company’s most advanced solutions for protecting vehicles from cybersecurity threats. It generates a thorough representation of a vehicle’s software components without requiring access to the source code and automatically identifies any vulnerabilities that could be exploited.

Cybellum, a cybersecurity risk assessment organization, has been acquired by LG Electronics. LG will purchase a 64 percent ownership in the IT company, valued at $140 million, as part of the deal, which is targeted at improving LG’s cybersecurity skills.

Cybellum, founded in 2016, is a Tel Aviv-based company that delivers its products to automobile manufacturers and suppliers all around the world. Cybellum has operations in Japan, Germany, and North America, in addition to Israel. It will continue to exist as a independent organization and brand, assisting LG in the design, development, and operation of parts.

The Cyber Digital Twins platform is one of the company’s most advanced solutions for protecting vehicles from cybersecurity threats. It creates a detailed representation of a vehicle’s software components without requiring to assess to the source code and automatically identifies any vulnerabilities that could be exploited. The platform checks for vulnerabilities using real-time threat intelligence feeds and provides a detailed assessment of those vulnerabilities as well as fixes.

This is LG’s first acquisition in Israel and in the cybersecurity domain. Previously, the company purchased ZKW Group, an Austrian automotive lighting company.

The demand for stronger vehicle cybersecurity has never been higher, with the number and type of cybersecurity threats on the rise and the global automobile industry shifting to the connected car age, when secure connectivity is critical. As cars progress into organically connected systems with complex interrelationships between their various components, vehicle cybersecurity will only become more critical.
