Avast Plc, based in the United Kingdom, revealed on Wednesday that it is in advanced talks to merge with NortonLifeLock Inc.
Avast indicated that if the deal goes through, it will be a cash-and-share agreement. However, the company stated that there is no guarantee that an agreement will be reached.
NortonLifeLock stated on late Wednesday that it was in talks with Avast about a possible merger, but did not provide any other information.
The deal will allow NortonLifeLock, based in Tempe, Arizona, to broaden its focus from consumer cyber security to consumer software.
