In a separate statement, the Japanese conglomerate said that the attack was limited to a portion of Europe and that the cyber-attackers did not gain access to client data.
A French subsidiary of Japanese industrial giant Toshiba said on Friday that it was targeted by the same mysterious group that crippled a major US fuel pipeline earlier this month with a ransomware attack.
According to a statement from the company, Toshiba TFIS, a printer manufacturer was “hacked on May 4 by DarkSide ransomware which had already attacked numerous companies of all sizes”
While social media images of a DarkSide statement indicate the group claimed to have made a cache of information public, Toshiba said it had not detected any data leaks.
DarkSide, according to the US, was behind the ransomware attack that forced the shutdown of the America’s largest oil pipeline.
