Oracle Enables Telefónica Spain to Power New Services

In a move to evolve its network to provide converged communications, Telefónica Spain has chosen Oracle as a supplier of session border controller and will use the Oracle Communication Session Border Controller for its full portfolio of services which include residential services, mobile rich communication services (RCS), business services including SIP trunking, interconnection to support agreements with other European communications service provider (CSP), and Voice over LTE (VoLTE).

CSPs continue to evolve their network in order to offer innovative and differentiating services. This is especially true for traditional fixed-line and mobile carriers like Telefónica Spain. As the CSP planned to expand its converged services, it looked to Oracle to help it create a more flexible and secure network with Oracle Communications Session Border Controller. t meets Telefónica Spain’s high security standards, with its proven and rich feature set in the areas of transcoding, encryption and quality of service;

Oracle Communications Session Border Controller enables CSPs to deliver trusted, first-class real-time communications services across Internet Protocol (IP) network borders. The product is currently used for a variety of services and applications from Voice over IP (VoIP) to any services enabled by IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) including VoLTE, video conferencing and calling, presence, instant messaging, IP television (IPTV), GSM Association’s IP Exchange (IPX), and femtocell or Wi-Fi enabled fixed-mobile convergence.
