BlackBerry 9720 Launched in India at Rs. 15,990

The new smartphone has the BB OS 7.1 operating system, instead of the latest BlackBerry OS 10. It is the upgraded version for the BlackBerry Curve, which had been quite popular in India at one point of time. The phone features a 7.1-cm (2.8-inch) screen, which supports 480×360 pixel resolution. In addition, it has the full 35 key QWERTY keypad and 512 MB of RAM. The BlackBerry 9720 runs on the 806 Mhz Tavor MG1 processor and has 512 MB of internal storage. This can be further extended to 32 GB using a micro-SD card slot.

On the camera front, the Blackberry 9720 has a 5 mega pixel rear camera with flash. According to reports online, the camera has been labelled as Extended Depth of Field, which would most probably mean that it provides better optics for a greater depth. The camera also has the LED flash and image stabilisation software enabled.

The device is powered by a 1,450 mAh battery. The battery can provide up to 7 ours of talk time for the device along with 18 days of standby time. Connectivity options in the phone include quad band HSPA+”>HSPA (3G) and EDGE networks. Blurtooth, Wi-Fi and GPS options are also available. The Blackberry 9720 will be available in Black and White colours.

 

It comes with BlackBerry 7 OS version 7.1, BBM key to access the globally mobile social network and BlackBerry Keyboard. It also includes BBM Voice, which lets the user to chat over Wi-Fi for free. BlackBerry 9720 smartphone users can listen to local FM stations, and automatically let BBM friends to know the same.

With BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express, the BlackBerry 9720 smartphone offers business productivity features with mobile device management, application management and security. The smartphone integrates BlackBerry Balance technology, which separates work from personal content on the smartphone, supporting the needs of the enterprise and the BYOD customer.

The BlackBerry 9720 smartphone priced at Rs.15,990 is expected to be available from authorized retailers in India from today itself across the nation.
