Mesh7 is being acquired by VMware in order to improve API visibility, discovery, and protection. This is the 181st technology M&A deal protected by MSSP Alert and sister platform ChannelE2E in 2021.
Mesh7 claims that its Cloud-Native Application Behavior Security solution for distributed and cloud-native applications “provide the most comprehensive and proactive blind spot detection and protection solution available today,” by combining deep Layer 7 insights with cloud, host, and reputation data.
Security operations use cases, according to Mesh7, include the ability to allow real-time analytics as well as SIEM and intelligence integrations.
Mesh7’s method of auto-discovering and auto-learning application behaviour at the API layer allows creation, operations, and security teams to work together seamlessly.
Mesh7 gives development teams API layer protection and observability in the development context, and security and operations teams auto-created higher application-layer security controls in the run-time environment.
When the deal is completed, Mesh7’s contextual API behaviour protection solution will be incorporated with Tanzu Service Mesh, enabling VMware to provide a high-fidelity understanding of which applications components are interacting with each other through APIs. Developers and security teams can have a clearer understanding of when, where, and how applications and microservices communicate through APIs, including in multi-cloud environments, allowing for better DevSecOps.
