A ransomware attack targets an administrative services firm, resulting in a data breach among healthcare providers
At least three US healthcare providers have experienced data breaches as a result of a ransomware attack on the administrative services firm CaptureRx. The cyberattack happened on February 6, and an investigation was conducted about two weeks later, revealing that an unauthorised user had accessed multiple files.
More than 24,000 people had their Personal Health Information (PHI) stolen. Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare, Thrifty Drug Stores, and Gifford Health Care were among the providers who was impacted by the data breach.
