On Wednesday, T-Mobile US Inc stated that an ongoing investigation into a cyberattack on its systems found that the personal data of around 7.8 million of its current postpaid customers has been compromised.
According to a statement, after an online forum reported that personal data of its users had been hacked, the company was made aware of the attack late last week.
T-Mobile reported that data from around 850,000 prepaid subscribers, as well as more than 40 million records of previous or prospective customers, was also stolen.
According to the company, customers’ first and last names, date of birth, social security numbers, and driver’s licence information were among the data stolen, but no financial information was stolen.
On Monday, T-Mobile acknowledged the data breach and stated that the entry point used to access the data had been closed.
