Pacific City Bank Targeted by AVOS Locker Ransomware

by CISOCONNECT Bureau

AVOS Locker Ransomware operators have infected the Pacific City Bank; the group claims to have taken sensitive files from the bank and threatens to disclose them.

Pacific City Bank is a California-based American community bank that focuses on the Korean-American community and provides commercial banking services.

AVOS Locker Ransomware operators targeted the bank, claiming to have stolen crucial documents from the financial organisation.

The ransomware gang added the bank to its leak site on Saturday, September 4, 2021, and uploaded screenshots as proof of the hack.

The bank’s cybersecurity measures were labelled as ‘terrible’ by cybercriminals.

“Pacific City Bank provides outstanding banking and financial services for businesses and consumers. (but they have horrible security)” reads the message published on the leak site. “If they refuse to negotiate, we will leak all the data we’ve got. Attached are some of the documents that were exfiltrated.”

The ransomware gang released proof, a ZIP archive containing a series of documents that were reportedly stolen from the bank.
