Customers can now Follow a Zero-trust Policy in New Ways: IBM Security

by CISOCONNECT Bureau

Last week, IBM Security disclosed new ways to assist consumers in adopting a zero-trust security strategy. The announcement clarified that a zero trust approach is based on the principles of granting the least privileged access: never trust, always verify, and assume breach. IBM Security also announced a strategic collaboration with Zscaler, a cloud and network security provider, as well as new blueprints for popular zero trust use cases, a SaaS version of IBM Cloud Pak for Security to help customers modernise and secure remote work.

To upgrade security programs, security professionals can use the zero trust as a framework. It will make it easier to respond to the risks that arise as a result of the changing business environment. According to a recent ESG study cited by IBM Security, 45 percent of organisations with more mature zero-trust strategies were able to smoothly migrate to a remote or work-from-home model, compared to just 8 percent of organisations with the least mature zero-trust strategies.

IBM Security’s latest zero trust blueprints will provide IT professionals with a framework for developing a security program that adheres to the three core principles of zero trust. Organisations will have “a prescriptive roadmap of security capabilities along with guidance on how to integrate them as part of a zero-trust architecture” with the blueprints.

Customer engagements were used by IBM Security to improve the blueprints’ capability and guidance. This, according to the IBM, will assist organisations in planning zero journeys and investments by allowing them to take a “pragmatic approach that better aligns security and business objectives.”

IBM Security said an open approach is needed to resolve the fragmentation and complex challenges security teams face when implementing a zero trust strategy. IBM is working with leading technology partners to help organisations simplify and connect security for an organisation’s vendor ecosystem.
