Move in sync with Prime Minister’s declaration to achievegreater self-reliance in securing the nation and its digital assets from internal and external threats
In March 2014, the front pages of major newspapersin the country reported that DRDO systems have been compromised. A spyware was detected on more than 50 critical systems giving hackers access to 30 secret files.
The news was not surprising to people in the industry. With a network of more than 50 laboratories which are deeply engaged in developing defense technologies covering various disciplines, such as aeronautics, armaments, combat vehicles, missiles, etc DRDO systems are always lucrative targets for most of the spy agencies in the world.
Since the last hacking attempts on their systems, DRDO has been actively involved in boosting the security of its critical information infrastructure by deploying state of the art Cyber Security products. With PM’s “Make in India” campaign taking Centre stage all over the country, DRDO is busy implementing indigenous Cyber Security Products from firewalls to authentication systems. This has given a boost to the Indian startup scene where multiple Indian companies are now competing with global leaders in different aspects of Cyber security. This move has given double dividends since it has also lowered down the final product acquisition costs for
DRDO.
“Indian companies are more flexible to customizations to meet the exact product requirements”, said a DRDO official.
Owing to persistent hack attacks on SAP systems deployed around the world, DRDO recently chose to implement a completely indigenous authentication system to secure their authentication credentials and ensure that their mission critical SAP systems credentials can never be compromised. India’s premier defense R&D agency with a network of more than 50 laboratories and deeply engaged in developing defence technologies, choosing to deploy state of art AuthShield Two Factor Authentication (2FA) solution from Delhi based Innefu Labs. DRDO deployed AuthShield 2FA to firmly secure access to its mission critical SAP ERP systems from growing data breaches and hack attacks, both from within and outside in the country.
After reaching out to a number of leading authentication solution providers they ended up zeroing down to an Indian authentication security provided who could do a direct secure integration of SAP.
